Biography

Shamsul Bahri Kamis has a background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Communications) and has been serving the government of Brunei Darussalam since 1994 in various areas related to Communications and communications security, ICT infrastructure, IT Security and e-government before being tasked to set up a government-owned IT Security company in 2003 as its CEO. He was also responsible for setting up BruCERT, a government and national CERT of Brunei Darussalam in 2004. The two organizations later formed a foundation for the setting up of Cyber Security Brunei (CSB), which is a national Cybersecurity agency of Brunei Darussalam in 2020. From what started as a modest outfit of just under 30 staff in 2003/2004, the organisation later grew to what it is today with more than 150 staff competent in various cybersecurity or cyber-related fields. Currently, he is the interim Commissioner of CSB and is holding various positions in the National Cyber Security Committee and other government committees, and is also an Independent director to a few government-linked companies.
