Biography

Peter Anstee leads OpenAI’s national security policy across the Indo-Pacific. He works with governments on the governance, adoption and security of frontier AI, with a focus on national security, cyber security, innovation and critical infrastructure.

Peter previously led the National Security Division at the Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. He also served as First Assistant Secretary for Countering Foreign Interference, Cyber and Technology at the Department of Home Affairs.

Earlier in his career, Peter was an Executive Director at CyberCX and a Senior Adviser to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, helping lead key elements of the government’s foreign affairs and national security agenda.

He recently completed a Fulbright Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley, researching national security risks in technology supply chains.
