Biography

Alexandra Baumann is a career diplomat with close to two decades of experience within the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). Her career is heavily focused on foreign policy coordination, economic strategy, and emerging technologies.

Prior to her assignment in Singapore, she served as the Head of the Prosperity and Sustainability Division (FDFA) at the Swiss Foreign Ministry headquarters, where she coordinated cross-departmental economic foreign policy and served as Switzerland's primary diplomatic contact for artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technology issues. Before that, from 2019 to 2022, she was the Diplomatic Adviser to the Swiss Finance Minister, providing high-level policy counsel to the head of the Federal Department of Finance. Her extensive international background also includes a posting at the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations in New York from 2016 to 2019. Earlier in her career, she gained valuable regional experience stationed at the Swiss Embassy in Berlin, Germany from 2011 to 2016, and worked within the Americas Division in Bern.
