Biography
Ruvarna Naidoo is a diplomat at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa. She is responsible for the new and emerging technologies file, namely, artificial intelligence (AI), information and communications technologies (ICTs) and outer space, in the context of international security. She participated in the negotiations in the United Nations (UN) Open-Ended Working Group on security of and in the use of ICTs (2021-2025) that led to the establishment of the Global Mechanism on ICT security. Her other files include non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the context of UN Security Council resolution 1540. She has previous experience with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Humanitarian Initiative on Nuclear Weapons.
