Biography

Maizatul Khairani is the Principal Assistant Director at the Department of Personal Data Protection Malaysia. Over the past 16 years, she has served in four different agencies in the Malaysian Government. She holds MSc. Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London, funded by the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. She had experience in different domains of cyber security at the national level which includes Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP), incident response, digital forensics, Operational Technology (OT) and Information Security Management System (ISMS). Currently, she is responsible for overseeing Data Breach Notifications (DBN) under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), which includes investigating data breaches and criminal activities related to data selling. She has had the opportunity to be involved in numerous national initiatives including the development of the Cyber Security Act 2024 [Act 854] and represented Malaysia in various international fora. She was part of the ITU Women in Cyber Mentorship Programme and UK-South East Asia Women in Cyber Fellowship.
