Biography
Courtney Lang leads ITI's Trust, Data, & Technology team, which covers global policy related to AI, cybersecurity, privacy, and data. Since joining ITI in 2019, Lang has led the development of a suite of ITI AI policy collateral, including ITI's Global AI Policy Recommendations (2021), ITI’s AI Accountability Framework (2023), ITI’s Understanding Agentic AI (2025), and ITI's AI Technology Stack and Why It Matters for AI Policy and Governance, among others. She co-chairs the IT Sector Coordinating Council's Emerging Technology Working Group and has testified before the U.S. Congress on AI policy, the Brazilian Senate on AI regulation, and the Australian Parliament on critical infrastructure security. She also participates in the OECD’s Global Partnership on AI Expert Group on AI Risk and Accountability. She regularly participates in panel discussions, roundtables, and workshops as a subject matter expert on AI policy. Her analysis has been quoted in The New York Times, Politico, The Washington Post, Inside Cybersecurity, and other publications.
Prior to joining ITI, Lang worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration for five years, where she advocated for U.S. technology companies' interests in international markets. Lang is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's GeoTech Center, where she contributes original research on AI, geopolitics, and competitiveness.
