Biography

Wee Kiang is currently the Assistant Chief Executive for Engineering at the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX). He is primarily responsible for strategizing and driving the development and delivery roadmaps of HTX’s Engineering pillar; which consists of four Centres of Expertise, namely Robotics Automation & Unmanned Systems (RAUS), Vehicle & Weapon Systems (VWS), Protective Security & Safety (PSS) and Marine Systems (MS). As ACE Engineering, Wee Kiang is also responsible for developing the technical competencies of the engineering cohort and ensures that core expertise across functions are optimally built. ​

Prior to this appointment, Wee Kiang was Director for Plans and Strategy from 1 Jan 2024 to 30 Sep 2025, where he was responsible for driving HTX’s strategic priorities and outcomes, as well as planning and optimising its organisational resourcing needs. ​

From 1 Dec 2019 to 31 Dec 2023, Wee Kiang was leading the Robotics, Automation and Unmanned Systems (RAUS) Centre of Expertise. He implemented the capability development roadmap that charted the delivery of RAUS solutions for the Home Team. Supported by a team of engineers, Wee Kiang oversaw the executions of RAUS developments, field testing initiatives and propelled applications to ground units within the Home Team. Before assuming this role with HTX, he held several leadership positions, handling technology developments, in various divisions within the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). ​

Before joining MHA in late 2012, Wee Kiang was a Programme Manager with the Land Systems Programme Centre at the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), overseeing the acquisition and development of ground robotics capabilities for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). He also held a concurrent appointment as Senior Investment Manager in Cap Vista Pte Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of DSTA), primarily responsible in identifying new and promising unmanned systems technologies for defence applications. ​

Wee Kiang graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) degree from the National University of Singapore in 1998. Under the DSTA postgraduate scholarship, he obtained two Masters of Science degrees (Defence Technology & Systems and Combat Systems) from the Temasek Defence Systems Institute (TDSI) in 2003. ​
