Biography
Garrettson Blight is the Vice President and Managing Director of Booz Allen Hamilton’s Global Government market solving national security challenges across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. In addition to being an international business leader, Garrettson is a U.S. military veteran with 20 years of experience supporting both the public and private sectors, with a strong focus on emerging technologies and cyber work with the U.S. intelligence community and U.S. Department of Defense.
Prior to his work in supporting global public sector clients, Garrettson led Booz Allen’s DarkLabs Research and Development (R&D) unit, which applies technical tradecraft to create novel cyber offensive and defensive solutions to counter adversaries. One such project was an innovative threat and data analytics platform to aid in hunting threat actors which subsequently created a new company with venture capital investment. Complementing this R&D leadership was his prior years of performance as a technical consultant with the U.S. intelligence community, and his work as an Operations Officer at the Navy Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington D.C. while in uniformed service. These roles also focused on non-kinetic conflict and emerging technologies in the domains of cyber, critical infrastructure, AI/ML, and electronic warfare.
In his tenure at Booz Allen Garrettson has held numerous technical leadership roles supporting the U.S. government including the National Security Agency Cyber Engineering and Operations Market Lead, and the Federal Cyber Defense Operations Lead where he led health sector incident response activities during COVID related attacks. Prior to Booz Allen, Garrettson held a variety of military assignments such as: Operations Officer at NRL, U.S. Naval Academy Leadership Instructor, and Anti-Air Warfare Coordinator on a U.S. Navy AEGIS Cruiser. Garrettson has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi & Enduring Freedom and maritime NATO Operations.
Garrettson serves on industry boards such as the Board of Advisors for the MITRE Engenuity Center for Threat Informed Defense and, as an Eagle Scout, he volunteers his time mentoring youth in Scouting America. Garrettson has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the U.S. Naval Academy, a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, a master’s specialization in Change Management from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and retains several industry certifications.
